I have been wanting to wash my engine for sometime as it is used at construction site and there is a nice layer is dirt all over it. Wondering who here has the balls to wash their engine theirself and how you do it?

I read all you have to do is put the pressure washer on low and go all out. Some say remove the batterie and some say leave it in.

I did it the other day and just used the sponge I use for my wheels. I used my "No Rinse" wash fluid and went at it... your engine gets soaked EVERY rain storm so it would be hard to hurt it.

Just be careful around your wires etc... don't wanna damage or disconnect them. It is probably not healthy to hand soak your battery... use a damp sponge but stay away from the contacts just incase.

I do. I use that sponge/brush they have to wash dishes and dish detergent.

Better to disconnect the battery negative wire in the trunk before you start.

Put some detergent in a cup, dump the brush and just scrub the hell out of the engine, every nook and cranny, the fan, the underhood. Nice and soapy. then rinse the whole thing with hose. If you do it outside people look with confused look "Can he do that?"

Do it every spring to get all the salt, makes engine looking clean.

BTW, Dealerships preassure wash used car engines anyway. Its all good.
